12/16/2017 - UPDATE -

I am writing to you, and it is sort of like writing a letter to Santa. I am writing to you to tell you I want only one thing - my new family. Before I go on I need to say something really important. NO ONE thinks I am eighteen years ago. Must have been a snafu at the time I was surrendered, but the vet says maybe I am 9 years old. Sounds young to me! I must say that I am really a happy girl right now in my super wonderful foster home. My mom and dad are just the greatest ever. I have other pups at my house, too, which is fun. My foster mom says I need to tell you all about me, starting with the fact that I am smart, cute, and I get along with everyone, pups and people. I was at an adoption show on Saturday, and I met lots of great people who I really liked. They liked me too, and I was so well behaved. I went with my foster dad who I really love. We showed off how well I can sit for a treat. I am very curious and sort of nosy. Mom says when she opens the kitchen cabinets I am right there with her, checking out what is inside. I tell Mom and Dad when I need to go outside. I have a nice new coat that I recognize and want it put on me before I go out. I know the words "front door" and "back door" and show up at the right place. Also, I walk very well on the leash. Usually if my parents hear me bark it is when I am waiting for a treat. Just love those treats. Lots of things to love here like getting to cuddle on Mom or Dad's lap, sleeping with Dad, and playing. I do love to play. I even get to play with Mom and Dad's grandchildren. One is only 4 years old and I play so nicely with her and with all the older kids, too. They are a fun group. Well, time to draw my letter to a close. I will tell you a secret first, though. When I saw Santa at the show, I told him I wanted my new family. I can't wait to show my family how much love I can give to them. I trust the big guy will help and hope that my letter helps, too. Thanks for reading my letter. Have a wonderful holiday and come meet Miss Poppy if you want your holiday even brighter. I will brighten your days I promise. Holiday hugs and kisses. - Yours, Poppy

MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION:

Hello, my name is Poppy. My owners turned me into a shelter and the kind people of CSAC rescued me. I have become an "honorary" Cocker since no one is sure I have any parts of a Cocker Spaniel in my genes. My owners said I am 18 years old, but everyone says they don't believe I am THAT old. Of course, a lady never tells her true age. My transporter said I am very sweet and timid, but I am perky and easily trust. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with the CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will turn me into a happy, cherished pet.

Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link.

The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. If you can help, please donate.
